The Elizabethtown Christian Academy Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Longleaf Academy, an Orton-Gillingham Accredited Instructional Program, will be partnering with ECA, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. The Longleaf Academy provides specialized support to students with language-based disabilities. Longleaf Academy, led by highly trained Orton-Gillingham practitioners, will be offering intensive reading/phonics, comprehension, spelling, grammar, and writing services to families previously served through the Able Center at ECA. Families receiving the Opportunity and/or ESA+ scholarships will find the out-of-pocket expenses for Longleaf Academy may be minimal or even covered entirely.

Longleaf Academy operates on a proven model of intervention, with a 4:1 student/teacher ratio during daily sessions lasting 60-75 minutes. Through intensive multisensory instruction and
adherence to critical Orton-Gillingham principles for teaching struggling readers, Longleaf students typically experience remarkable reading growth of 60 to 80% yearly. This highly effective program will replace the Able Center Program, providing students with reading and writing differences, (including those diagnosed with dyslexia) with a remedial approach firmly grounded in 85 years of evidence-based research.

Parents interested in enrolling their child in the Longleaf Academy Program may get additional information from the ECA office staff or through Jill Dejack at readforlife2009@gmail.com
