A Staff Report
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced the Elwell Ferry is temporarily closed on December 7, 2023. Today, Faye Boney with NCDOT confirmed the ferry closing has been extended. Following is the update released today.
US Highway 701N:
All traffic has been routed to the new bridge. The closure has a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION.
Elwell Ferry:
- Update as of 12/18/23 – Closed starting at noon December 7, 2023, and will re-open at 7:00 am, January 3, 2024, for Maintenance and High Water.
