One business owner in Bladen County is thankful what he initially thought was a fire turned out not to be. On Wednesday morning the owners of the Party Lite located on NC 87 in East Arcadia arrived to open their business and discovered the smell of smoke inside the building, according to East Arcadia Fire Chief Horace Munn.
As a precaution the owner called the fire department to come and check the building for a possible fire.
Munn said the fire alarms did not activate and the detectors were checked and found to be properly operating. Munn said fire crews took a heat sensing camera and searched the building and no fire was located.
The East Arcadia, Lisbon and Kelly Fire Departments and Bladen County EMS all responded to the scene.
