North Carolina State Board of Elections, Executive Director, Brinson Bell sent to all members of the General Assembly in April 2020. The letter contained an urgent request that the General Assembly adopt legislation to match federal funds to ensure our elections this year are safe and accessible to every voter in 2020.

The North Carolina General Assembly passed House Bill 1043 and Senate Bill 704 on Saturday. NC Governor Roy Cooper signed both the relief bills in to law on Monday, May 4 2020. The bills provide $1.6 billion in COVID-19 relief funding. No Section for funding the NC State Board of Elections was noted in either bill.
