Adele Peele Clark, age 106 died on July 12, 2024, in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She was born on January 25, 1918, in Scotland County, N.C.

Plans for a service to honor the life of Adele Clark will be announced at a future date.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Martin and Mary Susannah Falls Peele; her husband, Judge Edward B. Clark; her sisters, Martha Peele Brown and Mary Falls Peele McDonald; and her brother Rev. Luther (Billy) Martin Peele, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Sarah Clark West and Grace Clark Dale.

Adele is survived by her three sons, John Hector Clark of Charlotte, N.C., Edward Breeden Clark, Jr. (Nancy) of Elizabethtown, N.C. and Dr. Benjamin Peele Clark of Pawley’s Island, S.C. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Martha Clark Odom (Tommy) of Charlotte, Leslie Clark of Charlotte, Jason Clark of Hawaii, Edward B. Clark III (Amanda) of Ellicott City, MD., H. Allen Clark of Asheville; and four great grandchildren: Annie Odom, Max Odom, Emma Clark and Aiden Clark. She is also survived by her former daughter in-law and good friend, Donna Clark of Durham, N.C.

Adele graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and was a high school teacher and for many decades an active community volunteer in Elizabethtown, N.C. She was an avid bridge player, pianist and organist, a devoted reader with a love of ideas and a long-time member of the Elizabethtown Trinity Methodist Church.

The final 24 years of Adele’s life were spent at Scotia Village Retirement Community where she received excellent care and was loved by the staff, including Kathy, Tatiana, Julie and many others.
