Was in a local store recently when I saw a young couple shoppin’ and the male had a pistol in a holster on his belt. No doubt perfectly legal and I bet he knew all the do’s and don’ts about how to handle it, but I did not feel comfy. Just me, I suppose. I am not anti-weapon, just never felt a need to carry a weapon in public. I know many of my friends who do, and that’s OK. Different strokes for different folks.
President Trump is set to deliver his State of the Union address to Congress tonight. I actually stopped watching years ago, I may click on for a short time to see a little of what is being said and the tone of the address. Half will stand and applaud on most anything said by any President while the other half remains seated. I have reached the point in my life where I do not like controversy…knowing full well that all do not agree on anything and I accept. Just one of many reasons I changed registration to unaffiliated probably 8 to 10 years ago. Cantankerous old cuss in my later years.
I do respect the office of President and Congress and the folks who hold the positions…Reasonable people can and do disagree.
Leadership is a complex topic. What does it mean to be a good speaker? How do good leaders now when to lead and when to step back? What is the difference between seeking power and being an effective leader?
Good communication skills are critical. Emotional intelligence is increasingly seen as a trait that is important for leadership.
