Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Weather in North Carolina is interesting.  Yesterday’s high was in the upper 40s, high today (Thursday) near 70, high tomorrow mid 50s and there is a chance of rain thru Saturday… Guess ‘yucky’ is about the best way I could describe Wednesday.

But, better than many places….family member lives near Winchester, Va., sent a photo from her deck (porch) with lots of snow, several inches and very cold.  I prefer Bladen County.

A reminder of a program on Dementia at Bladen County Division of Aging from 2-3 p.m. Friday (tomorrow)  Did you know that over 150,000 North Carolina citizens, 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s?  The program is free.  The Senior Center is located at 608 McLeod Street, Elizabethtown.

Saw an interesting article on how little is being saved by citizens of all ages in 401k accounts.  According to Fidelity Investments, ages 30 to 39, average savings of $43,600; 40-49, the average savings is $106,200; 50-59, is $179,100 and 60-69 $198,600.  Sounds like a fair amount until you think of being retired for 10, 15 maybe 20 years.  Hopefully Social Security will still be around.  Defined benefits are becoming more and more scarce.  Plan ahead.

Surprised at the number of folks following the hearings on alleged corruption related to NC 9th Congressional District.  Live video is available on WECT, WRAL and WTVD, maybe more.  Mark Harris’s son (John) was on the stand yesterday and admitted he did not have a good feeling about his dad hiring McRae Dowless to assist in his campaign.  Today, candidate Harris is expected to take the stand.  The new state Board of Elections will decide whether to certify Harris as the winner or call for a new election.  John Harris is an Assistant DA in the federal court system.

Dowless has attended the hearing but refused to testify without immunity from further prosecution, something the board was not willing to provide.  Dowless has been accused of illegal activities related to absentee ballots…

It doesn’t matter if you win or lose until you lose.

I think if I have a good breakfast I could go without food for the rest of the day.  I think that until about lunchtime.

It doesn’t matter what temperature the room is…it’s always room-temperature.
