Spread the love

This business started with a goal to have an avenue that does not just connect people, but also makes a difference and proves itself relevant, according to owners Dwayne and Mary Miller. People’s Emporium strives to bring more shoppers to the Elizabethtown-White Lake area while offering a unique experience.

People’s Emporium carries products from local artists, craftsmen, farms, and other small businesses from all over the world. They also have a goal to provide a place where folks can gather, create, and have fun, according to the Millers. “Our future goal is to open the 3,000 square-foot of upstairs space to further expand this dream and to provide a meeting room and additional shopping; To have a place to serve God and the community better,” the owners explained.

“We offer unique and different kinds of products that have become meaningful and special to people. The goal is to have a fun and pleasant shopping experience with items that have quippy quotes, troll hunts, and customized products that touch the soul,” Dwayne and Mary shared. They continued, “Our craft/party studio offers a place where children and adults alike can create using their imagination and draw a sense of togetherness, whether it is a planned party or just dropping in to make a craft.”

The owners stated, “Disc golf is an up-and-coming sport, and any enthusiasts would have to drive long distances to get disc golf supplies and equipment — so why not carry them to support the local course right here at Tory Hole Park and the future course coming to Green’s Pond in March.”

Recently, the Emporium had an open house event. The owners were touched by the support of other businesses that they collaborated with to make this event happen. They explained, “We had Burney’s Sweets and More’s mini croissants, Barefoot Brew’s hot cocoa and flavored coffees, and a special appearance by Lilly, the miniature pony donned in Christmas apparel for photo opportunities.” The owners would also like to mention their employees. They noted, “Both are going to Southeastern College in Whiteville and they have been absolutely incredible and more than I could ever have asked for — Jocelyn Powell and Rachel Brown.”

A message from Dwayne and Mary Miller, owners of People’s Emporium:

“It has been such a pleasure to serve the community, as we have received such warm and incredible feedback from everyone. We are looking forward to exploring many more opportunities to connect and give back.”
