Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingI still get excited when I think back to December 2007 and February 2008.  Ken Pervine and I were busy, making final decisions about a new source of news for Bladen County, BladenOnline.

Ken was taking care of the technical issues and I was thinking how I could sell advertising, cover news and work on circulation, all at once.  It was a challenge, but so much fun.

Today, Charlotte, Daine, Erin, John, Ray, Joy and others are taking BladenOnline to new heights.  I love it.

Hope you will check the various pages.  Easy to check news, sports and obits, but there is so much more.

Remember a Christmas when you failed to get what you thought Santa had promised?   I do, I was about mmmm….6-7 maybe 8 years old and I wanted a baseball glove.  Not a need, but a want and mom and dad dealt mostly with needs.  I understood, happy to receive a few pieces of homemade clothing by momma (shirt, etc), an orange, an apple, a few nuts and a piece or two of peppermint candy.

For NFL fans that could not watch the entire game, the Patriots defeated the Ravens, 30-23.

Keep an eye on Raleigh today, legislators are back in town, supposedly to deal with flooding in the east and fires in the west.  It’s the ‘other’ that often causes confusion and lack of trust of government officials.  And, both parties are fully capable of ‘feathering’ their own nests.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.  Winston Churchill

One of the key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace, good people don’t go into government.   Donald Trump

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.  Mark Twain

The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.  Thomas Jefferson

If men were angels, no government would be necessary.  James Madison
