Bladen We Care recently sponsored their annual golf fundraiser … and it was, again, a huge success … Sometimes we do not hear about how such efforts help our neighbors in need … Let me share … A family of 5 saw their mobile home destroyed recently … Dad and a 9-month old died in the blaze. Mom and 2 other youngsters survived … They lost all … and so many have stepped up … including Bladen We Care … Dad worked in a Bladen industry … Neighbors, family and friends are assisting, including Bladen We Care … but more, much more, is needed … We help our own … I do not have contact info, but will get and provide soon … In the meantime … BWC has or will in the coming hours step up … We can’t bring back the 2 deceased, but can assist in providing for the 3 survivors … And they need our help … and will in the coming days, weeks and months…

The NY Mets defeated the Washington Nationals yesterday … Final score was 9-7 … Columbus County native MacKenzie Gore was starting pitcher for the Nationals … Good outing for Gore, another loss for Nationals … Gore pitched 5.2 innings, gave up one run on 5 hits … one earned run … 8 strikeouts … 1 base on ball … before being relieved…
Every now and then I have a flashback to a tobacco patch … cropping the weed … hot … gee, it was hot … Made a career decision during my teens … Never a farmer as an adult … Many do well … very successful, year in and year out … No regrets on my part…
