Friday, a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m. … High near 94 … 50% chance of precipitation. Rain is in the extended forecast … in fact thru Monday night … between 30% and 50% daily…

Tonite, the 2 major contenders for President square off in a debate … Would be good to hear what each proposes to improve our homeland … but likely to get “bogged down” in personal attacks … Hope not … Neither is perfect and will be debating before an imperfect audience…

Debate begins at 9 p.m. on CNN and continues for 90 minutes.

Bladen County Committee of 100 Annual Meeting is set for this evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery … Speakers representing Cape Fear Health Care System will be the program … Admission is $100 per couple and includes a meal for 2. It’s the lone fundraiser for the annual event.

MacKenzie Gore, Washington Nationals left-handed pitcher’s last outing was an interesting game … Gore gave up a 2-run homer to his former team, the San Diego Padres … He then hit the next batter and there was a bench-clearing confrontation … Long and short of it … He was the losing pitcher … Overall, he has pitched well this season … He is living the dream of many … a MLB big leaguer … and still a young man…

NBA Draft began yesterday in NY City … The Atlanta Hawks had the 1st pick and selected Zaccharie Risacher from France…
