I was out and about early this AM … Enjoy early mornings…
Yesterday’s high temp was a warm 89 degrees … We need some rain … and we have a 30% chance of rain today and tonight … prospects of rain increases as we move thru the week…
Our forecast is for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, today and later this week … Today, partly cloudy with a high near 89 and a 30% chance of precipitation. Hopefully, a better chance later this week … low temps near 68 and a 30% chance of rain.
Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny with a high near 88 degrees … Chance of rain is 60%, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms … Showers and thunderstorms … Wednesday night, chance of rain increases to 80% … 70% for Thursday, and 60% chance Thursday night … before more sunny skies and high temps near 90 degrees…
On a personal note, today, 108 years ago, my mom, Mrytle Cain Hester, was born … 1916 … (Help me with the math) … She lived a simple life … birthed 6 children … all still alive and well … A good soul who endured much … One more note … She was in Zion Hill Baptist Church near Bladenboro for nearly all the Sundays in her life … I am the oldest of the 6 … probably a little difficult to deal with sometimes, but she was up to the task … God Bless…
FYI … Last I heard, Elwell Ferry was out of order … repairs … hopefully back to normal soon … Located near Kelly and has crossed the Cape Fear River for ‘humpteen years’ and, hopefully, more ahead … Worth the drive for the short trip across the river … between Kelly and US 701 … not far west of Riegelwood…
We have a couple of the prettiest red-headed woodpeckers you will ever see … wish someone could capture and deport … Pecking often on our back deck, a no no. Guess they are watching when we leave for a time…
Buddy Burney was the face and heart of Dixie Youth Baseball in Clarkton and other nearby neighborhoods for most of his too-short adult life … He is now in Dixie Youth’s Danny Jones Club … If it was about summer sports for youngsters, he was the heart and soul … He earned the honor…
Well, a little different “Thoughts” for today … More on the way … tomorrow, if all goes as planned…
