Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals today … Columbus County’s MacKenzie Gore is listed as Nationals starting pitcher … game time is 4:15 p.m. … Washington snapped a four-game losing streak last night, posting a 2-1 victory over the Braves … Gore has pitched well, but little to show for it on several occasions … He is 4-5 for the season, ERA … 3.57, has 65 strikeouts … His fastball is in the 90-plus mph range…

College baseball super regionals underway … 16 teams … they include UNC, NC State and Clemson … All playing today…

NASCAR in Sonoma, California this weekend for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 … Gentlemen start your engines command set for 3:30 p.m. Sunday…

PGA tour in Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial Tournament … Scottie Scheffler is the leader at -9, 3 shots better than Adam Hadwin and Viktor Hovland … Next weekend, U.S. Open in Pinehurst … A great event at a great location…

The newest group of Dove Brothers will be performing today, 5 p.m. at Bladen Gaskins Chapel in Bladenboro … 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

And, Sunday, Pastor Jonathon Hayes and his family will bid farewell to the Wesley’s Chapel congregation and move on to something, hopefully, bigger and better … He announced his departure several weeks ago … and we wish them well … Farewell lunch after Sunday services for he and his family and Herman McLeod, who is retiring after a long tenure at the church…
