thoughts while shavingOne of our service providers had a hiccup in their service recently … No time is a good time for such … But, it caused me to stop and think … How long has it been since we had such a situation for any of our providers? … I’m not complaining … I am thankful for all our providers and the near perfect service they provide … day in and day out … 365 days of the year … An enviable record for all … THANKS to all…

Our high temp recorded at the local weather station was a hot 89 degrees over the past 24 hours … Too hot to work outside … just right for a round of golf … smile…

Checking the forecast for today and beyond … Today … our high temp is expected to be near 95 degrees, windy, with gusts as high as 15 mph…

Tonight, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 68 and a 40% chance of precipitation … Chance of rain increases as the thunderstorms arrive … Back to work time Monday … Partly sunny with a high near 87 … Wednesday thru Saturday … Highs in the low 90s and a 20% to 30% chance of rain daily … typical summer time weather in southeastern North Carolina…

Today at the House of Worship where we attend … our pastor and his family will be departing … His idea … and an interim is in place or will be soon … Thankful for all … coming and going…

I spent a fair amount of time outside yesterday … cutting weeds, etc. … Thankfully I can still do it…

In the PM, after the mail service arrived … One of my favorite magazines arrived … Business North Carolina … As I browsed thru the headlines, occasionally reading … one article that got my attention … I begin to think about how so much has changed over the years … The article was about a chain of steakhouses … how it had progressed over the years … large facility, good food, mostly sit-down with large family or workers in metro areas … And, for this company, the apparent need for change … less space, shorter menu, including take-out food…

Caused me to think back over the years … For years, drive-in restaurants dotted the landscape, and still may in some areas. Now this company is experimenting with smaller facilities, expanded menu, and more take-outs … For years, just about every community had a country store … Today, just about all such small facilities closed, out of business…

Guess it is just the nature of the beast … Constant change … When was the last time you observed a bread truck, or soft drink company servicing a rural country store … Few, if any … I am reminded of what I was told years ago … Find a need and fill it … and, I would add … Pray it will last a lifetime…
