thoughts while shavingAs usual, we begin with the weather … past, present and future…

Yesterday’s high temp was 91 degrees … Forecast for today and next few hours…

Sunny today with a high near 88. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 62. Thursday, sunny with a high near 83 … No mention of rain for the next 4 to 5 days and lower temps. Highs mostly in the low to mid 80s.

Mid-America seems to be where the ‘bad weather’ action is … The most active months for tropical weather systems in North Carolina are August, September and October … even as late as November … The peak tropical activity usually occurs in a six week period from mid-August to late September, according to the National Weather Service.

Hurricane Hazel came calling in early to mid-October 1954 … It made landfall near Calabash. 81 died … winds and rain caused rivers in the area to overflow … shelters were opened … one was the Bladenboro National Guard Armory…

Moving on to other topics … Golfers who failed to register for the upcoming Bladen We Care Golf Tournament can have their names added to the standby list … The event is scheduled for June 20th at River Landing Golf Course near Wallace.

About as much local activity as ever this time of year … Check our Events section on Bladen OnLine…

Speaking of golf … Vineyard Golf near White Lake is a busy place … especially weekends … A favorite of many.

Blueberries are being harvested … Hopefully a good crop this year…

“I feel like summer has taken me over.”

“Summer breeze makes me feel fine.” Seals and Crofts
