The National Weather Service in Wilmington, NC, has released a routine weather briefing for the period of Monday, June 17, 2024, through Friday, June 21, 2024. Here’s what you need to know:

Overview

High pressure to the north will maintain dry conditions in the area through at least midweek. A tropical disturbance expected to remain to our south could bring a few showers to the Carolinas by Thursday or Friday. Expect a warming trend by the weekend.

Hazards & Impacts

Surf:

•       A building easterly swell will continue to elevate rip current risks for east/southeast-facing beaches through at least the end of the week.
•       These beaches may experience high rip current risks on Wednesday, with strong longshore currents possible along the south-facing beaches in Brunswick County.
•       Breaking wave heights might approach 6 feet at east-facing beaches from late Thursday through early Friday.

Marine:

•       Small Craft Advisory conditions may develop from late Wednesday through early Friday.

•       Monday: Mostly sunny with temperatures between 84-91°F. Night: Mostly clear, 63-70°F.
•       Tuesday: Mostly sunny, 83-91°F. Night: Mostly clear, 64-70°F.
•       Wednesday: Mostly sunny, 83-91°F. Night: Mostly clear, 65-71°F.
•       Thursday: Mostly sunny, 84-91°F. Night: Mostly clear, 67-73°F.
•       Friday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers/storms, 85-94°F. Night: Partly cloudy, 70-75°F.
