The White Lake Board of Commissioners are expected to get a lake water restoration project update Tuesday night at its regularly scheduled meeting at Town Hall.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

Alan Pittman is expected to address the board about the latest efforts by the town and state to restore White Lake since a green discoloration was noticed in the water in 2013.

In 2017, lots of algae formed in the lake. After testing, it was determined that it was not just algae but Cyanobacteria, which can make toxins, called cyanotoxins. Fortunately, no toxins were found in the lake water, but the town got permission from the state and paid for an alum treatment which killed the Cyanobacteria as well as cleared the water.
