Steven Pfaff, with the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, said on Thursday afternoon folks in Bladen County can expect to receive anywhere from one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch of ice accumulation during the developing winter storm.
Pfaff said the primary threat from the winter storm is freezing rain and there is also a possibility of sleet. Pfaff said as the low pressure leaves the area on Saturday there is the possibility of a wintry mix hitting Bladen County on Saturday and Saturday evening.
Pfaff said light rain will begin Thursday evening and transition into freezing rain. A wintry mix will occur on Saturday and end on Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service, driving conditions could become hazardous especially with regards to bridges and overpasses.
