It was a very close encounter between Bladenboro and Clarkton in early April of 1987. The Bulldogs improved their record to 3-1 on the young season.
The Lady Bulldogs scored all three of their runs in the first inning. Bladenboro would get three singles from Traci Hyatt, Shelly Brown , and Tina Meismer. Hyatt and Brown would come in to score off an error. Clarkton would follow suit with singles from Lessie Stacker, Kristi Shaw, Kelly Lyda , and Carmen Mcqueen. Lyda’s single would score Stacker, and Mcqueen would bring in Shaw with her single.
Stacker would hit a triple in the seventh with one out, but Clarkton could not bring Stacker home to tie the game. Bladenboro pitching down the stretch would allow them to cling on to the lead to finish Clarkton off.
