Yesterday evening the East Bladen soccer team members and some youth members from Foundation Church helped the Optimist Club of Elizabethtown set up for their annual Christmas tree sale in front of San Jose restaurant in Elizabethtown. The local civic club has held the annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser for 40 years to help children in the county.
The funds raised go towards youth projects such as sports and scholarships in Bladen County and 10% goes to the Boys and Girls Homes.

According to Joe Luther, the fundraiser project coordinator, there are 130 trees to choose from with a variety of sizes from 6 feet tall to 11 feet tall.
There are also some wreaths to choose from at the location. Club members will be on site at the West Broad Street location (across the street from Walmart) everyday except Thanksgiving from 12 noon until 6 pm.
Optimist President, Ryan Godwin said, “We plan to sell out quickly. The Town of Elizabethtown already purchased 20 of the trees to decorate the Farmer’s Market.”
