The Battle of Elizabethtown DAR Chapter would like to invite the citizens of Bladen
County to participate in the Bells Across America ceremony on the courthouse lawn on Sunday,
September 17th at 4:00 pm in celebration of the cornerstone of our freedoms, our Constitution.
Constitution Week, September 17 through 23, commemorates the 230th anniversary of the
signing of the Constitution of the United States. Bells will be ringing from coast to coast to
celebrate this great historical milestone. At the end of the ceremony, the bell on the courthouse
lawn will be rung 230 times. Anyone who would like an opportunity to be one of the bell ringers
should arrive by 3:45 pm.
We encourage all church members, school students, veterans, city and county
employees/leaders, 4-H Club members, Boy Scout troop members, Girl Scout troop members
and other clubs or individuals to come help us celebrate and keep this legacy alive on
Constitution Day, September 17 th , at 4:00 pm on the lawn of the Bladen County Courthouse.
