Sophmore Abbey Walters walloped a pair of solo home runs Friday, but her Southeastern Community College Lady Rams dropped a 5-3 Region 10 decision to Surry Community College in extra innings.
Walters, a Bladenboro native, batted 3-4 with the 2 home runs. Teammate Robin Coleman, another West Bladen grad, added a single for the Lady Rams.
The Lady Rams led 3-0 through 5 innings, but Surry tied the game with 3 runs in the sixth and scored 2 more in the eighth to take the win.
Walters ranks third in Region 10 with 8 home runs on the season. The pitcher/shortstop is third in runs batted in with 36, and her .418 batting average is fifth best in Region 10.
Surry also won the first game of Friday’s double-header by a 3-0 score.
The Lady Rams are now 7-9 in Region 10 play and 12-16 overall. Southeastern will close out their regular season with a double-headerSaturday at 12 noon at Florence-Darlington Tech.
