BEULAVILLE, NC –Eastpointe is troubled by DHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen’s approval of Columbus County’s request to disengage and realign with Trillium Health Resources.
Eastpointe notified both DHHS and Columbus County that the process mandated by the General Assembly designed to govern the disengagement and protect members and their families was not followed. Unfortunately, Secretary Cohen did not respond to Eastpointe. Eastpointe will be requesting that the Secretary reconsider her decision.
While North Carolina’s behavioral health system is facing unprecedented challenges, Eastpointe has served its Columbus members with distinction and made substantial investments in the County. The public is entitled to a stable and reliable behavioral health system. If Secretary Cohen’s decision stands, there is a risk of further destabilization of the behavioral health system and the Medicaid program that support our most vulnerable citizens.
