Kiwanis’s Club of Elizabethtown welcomed new Key Club members from East Bladen at a ceremony on Tuesday, March 20 at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market. Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students.

It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. Members of the Kiwanis International family and Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.

Kiwanis Club President, Jeff Futrell welcomed everyone and spoke about both the Kiwanis’s Club and the Key Club serve the communities. Secretary of the Kiwanis Club, Dr. Lisa Bryan led the new members in the club’s pledge.

Each new member in attendance stated,  “I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.”

East Bladen High School Faculty Advisor, Jennifer Hair explained to the new club members the lady Keyettes would also be members of their club. The plans are to have the all club members work together on some projects; other projects the members will work in groups according to Hair.

The officers recognized are President Michael Wax, Vice-President Tucker Norton, Secretary Tyler Ezzell, Treasurer Jacob Barber. The East Bladen High School Faculty Advisor is Jennifer Hair, Kiwanis Advisors are Dr. Lisa Lee Bryan, Johnny Anderson and Daine Smith.
