An emergency siren for the Brunswick Nuclear Plant malfunctioned on Monday. According to Brunswick County officials, Duke Energy reported that an emergency siren sounded Monday morning due to a malfunction of the siren. The siren was located in the emergency planning zone which surrounds Brunswick Nuclear Plant.
Brunswick County officials state the plant is operating safely and that no emergency ocurred. residents residing in the area are reminded if they hear a siren and are not sure if it is a test or a real emergency, to tune in to their local radio or television for advisories or instructions.
