Thoughts While ShavingSummertime arrived at 6:07 a.m. today according to the Old Farmers Almanac.  “The timing of the June solstice is not based on a specific calendar date or time; it all depends on when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the equator. Because the sun is highest in the sky on this day, you’ll notice that your shadow (at noon) is the shortest it will be all year.”  The facts according to the Almanac.

Happy the situation along the Mexican/US border has been modified.

July 4th is on Wednesday this year.  We normally celebrate on a weekend, so do we celebrate on the first weekend in July or the second weekend, or just on Wednesday, July 4th, or all week long?  Retirees are flexible, anytime is a good time for a party.

Remember working at Top Mode Mfg in Elizabethtown many years ago.  Everyone was off the week of July 4th, and many other plants done the same.  Some still follow that schedule, so the party may last all week long.

A reminder of the Sunset Jams, Alive after Five concerts, begin this evening featuring ‘Imitations’.  The party is from 6 to 9 p.m. at Goldston’s Beach, White Lake.  It’s FREE, compliments of Southeastern Health, Chamber of Commerce, Camp Clearwater, Town of White Lake, Goldston’s  Beach, Duke Energy, Smithfield, RA Jeffreys Distributors and Specialty Product Technologies.  Enjoy and thank the sponsors and Dawn Maynard for working to put it all together, again this year.

UNC Tar Heel baseball season ended with 11-6 loss to Oregon last night.

Summer means happy times and lots of sunshine.  It means going to White Lake, the beach and the mountains.
