Beautiful weather was in attendance for the Cape Fear River Run to benefit School Ministries, Inc., held at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown. There was a great crowd that came from miles around.
The top three women came in just seconds apart in the women’s division. Macelyn Batten, came in first, Sabrina Benbassat came in second and Heather Sholar placed third. In the men’s division, James Bryant came in first place with Caleb Williams coming in second and Scott Beasley coming in third.
James Bryant from Raeford, said “I was going to run the half marathon, but I got here late. So I ran the 5K.” It paid off because he came in first place in the 5K.
There were runners, walkers, bikes and even runners pushing strollers. Marcia Dunlap from Lumberton said, “I had to push my girl in a stroller because I didn’t have any where else to put her and I wanted to participate.” Now that is dedication.
Participates were not only from Bladen County, but from Fayetteville, Lumberton, Wilmington and even Columbia, SC.
