This Friday and Saturday will be marking the 27th annual Old Fashioned Planter’s Day event which set to be held at the Graham farm located on Old Fayetteville Road near Ammon.

The Old Fashioned Planters Day was originally held and sponsored by the Ruritan Club in White Oak, according to John Graham. Later on, said Graham, the event was moved because of a noise complaint and the Ruritan Club voted not to have it any more. But, that wasn’t the end of Planter’s Day. Instead, the Graham farm was cleared and centipede grass was planted so the event could continue on, said Graham.

The gates will open at 9 a.m. on each day with free admission for anyone wanting to go attend. People can expect to see vendors for a variety of things such as crafts, antique farm equipment, a blacksmith, horse equipment, and games to keep the kids entertained. There will also be a swap meet as well. Old tractors and antique cars will also be there, along with Hit & Miss engines. Food such as fried chicken and rice will be available for purchase.

Graham said many people are expected to attend, with anticipated attendance reaching up to 100 on a given day or as high as 1,000 people!
