BLADENBORO – Freshman lefthander Kaiden Stanley struck out 13 batters and pitched 5.2 innings of no-hit ball as West Bladen defeated Fairmont 4-2 in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action Friday.

Stanley gave up a run on 2 hits and 4 walks in his 6 innings of work. Freshman Josh Russ relieved in the seventh inning and allowed an unearned run on no hits and a walk while striking out two.

“Kaiden pitched really well tonight,” said Knight Coach Wade Pait. “He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning.”

Freshman Todd Richardson drew a walk to start the Knight fourth inning and raced home as sophmore Andrew Pait reached base on an error. Pait sprinted home on a passed ball for a 2-0 West Bladen lead.

Freshman Bryley Williams and Richardson both reached base on consecutive errors in the Knight fifth inning. Pait’s fielder’s choice scored Williams to pad the lead to 3-0.Two Tornado hits and an error produced a Fairmont run in the sixth inning.

Sophmore Samuel West ripped a single to left in the home half of the sixth. Chris Bailey was hit by a pitch. Sophmore Kendall Johnson-Pone raked a single to left that scored West to push the Knight lead to 4-1.

A walk, two stolen bases and a passed ball resulted in a Fairmont run in the seventh inning.

West, Johnson-Pone, freshman Brycen Blackmon, Williams, Pait and Russ connected for one hit each for the Knights. Pait and Johnson-Pone drove in runs. West, Williams, Richardson and Pait scored runs.

The Knights will travel to Red Springs Monday.
