The 63rd Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet of the Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce was held Tuesday evening at Lu Mil Vineyard with over 100 in attendance.  The crowd heard from guest speaker, Commissioner Kelly Thomas with the Department of Motor Vehicles, and then individuals were honored for their outstanding work in our community.

Award recipients of the night include:

Ricky Leinwand, Leinwand’s of Elizabethtown, was presented with the “Outstanding Small Business Award.”

Alan I. Maynard, Maynard Law Firm, was presented with the “Outstanding Chamber Member Award.”

Walter Bullard, was presented with the “Caring Person Award.”

Harry Womble, Goldston’s Beach, was presented with the “Honorary Lifetime Chamber Member Award.” 

Commissioner Thomas gave updates taking place with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Online access, customer service training for staff, and new one sticker registration for license plates are a few of the changes Thomas explained happening with the DMV. He left those in attendance with some advice, “Relationships matter very much. Starting with the staff from the ground up by empowering them to be the change agents brings a lot more success.”

Before the evening was over outgoing Chamber President, Trey Duncan with Woodmen of World, and board members, Ann Garrett, with NCESC, and Robin Summerlin, with Front Porch Catering were all presented with a plaque for their service to the Chamber. Incoming board members to serve 2015 through 2018 are Barbara Knight, with Du Pont and Maurice Williams, with Whimsical Flowers and Gifts. Charlotte Smith will be the Incoming President.
