Bladen County Commissioners meet tonight, regular session, 6:30 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the public.

Bladen County public school calendar includes Open House at all schools Thursday, August 22. Students return a week from today, Monday, August 26.

Bladen County voters in the 9th Congressional District will have the opportunity to cast their ballot in the Special Election beginning Wednesday, August 21 thru noontime Friday, September 6, 2019. Regular elections at various polling places in the district will be Tuesday, September 10.

Four Candidates are seeking the seat, they include Dan Bishop (R), Dan McCready (D), Jeff Scott (L) and Allen Smith (G). The election was held last year, however charges of election fraud forced another election. In the earlier election, Mark Harris (R) defeated McCready (D) by 905 votes but, then decided to drop out of the race.

President Trump won the district by 12 percentage points in the most recent presidential race. The district covers southern counties of the state along the South Carolina border from portions of Mecklenburg County to western Bladen County, with US Highway 701 being the approximate dividing line for portions of the county. The 7th District, served by Rep. David Rouzer, covers the eastern part of Bladen. Check with the Bladen County Board of Elections for the exact coverage area.

A Special Election is also being held the same date for voters to select a replacement for the late 3rd District Congressman Walter Jones, who died earlier this year. That district represents some of the most eastern counties, many along the coast, from Dare and Hyde to Currituck County and inland as far as Pitt, Greene and Lenoir counties.

The consensus after the election is that 100% of Americans think 50% of Americans have lost their minds.

Republicans and Democrats are like divorced parents who care more about getting the kids to hate the other than they are their well-being.

People who want to share their religious or political views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.
