Sword of the Lord Ministries has set a goal for Unity of Community, and they’ve been joined by several other groups of community builders from local churches and interested organizations. Saturday, June 20, started off with a Kick Ball Tournament at Leinwand Ball Park between the Klean Kut Riders Motorcycle Ministry, (President Corey Faison, whose motto is: Our Family is a Circle of Strength; Founded on Faith; Joined in Love; Kept by God.) and the Riding With the Angels Motorcycle Club, (from Big Show Auto Finish in Elizabethtown). The heat was on in more ways than one, showing that a “friendly rivalry” between competing clubs can be fellowship in the Lord. As the temperatures soared, so did the high spirits of all in attendance. Riding With the Angels won the tournament undefeated.
The churches represented were: Living Waters Worship Center, Elizabethtown Baptist Evangelistic Center, Sword of the Lord Ministries, Mt. Zion of Elizabethtown, Trinity Methodist AME Zionist of Harrells, and they were joined by Scorpio Enterprises, Glenda’s Just Desserts, Riding With the Angels, Klean Kut Riders, Saddle Up Acres, Premium Credit Solutions, and Corey Williams, The Prince of Praise, from radio station 1440 AM, The Branch.
Living Waters Worship Center, (pastor Kenneth Nance, whose motto is: Come as You Are, Be Who You Are, Discover the Difference) was serving chicken plates to raise funds for their church. Elizabethtown Baptist Evangelistic Center, (pastor Allen Skinner, whose motto is: No Matter the Question, Christ is the answer) held a bake sale/yard sale. Gospel singer, Dewey Ward entertained with music and a yard sale to benefit a victim of house fire. Sword of the Lord Ministries served Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and Turkey Legs, and organized the event. Curtis McKinley of Scorpio Enterprises served up some Gospel and R&B. Lamont Stephens of E’town Mt. Zion provided a Basketball goal for entertainment, Glenda’s Just Desserts, (in business for 5 years on MLK in E’town) served up some soul food. Trinity Methodist AME Zionist (pastor Charles Whitted) served fish and chicken sandwiches. 1440 AM Radio- The Branch, broadcast music for the crowd, and Saddle Up Acres offered Pony Rides for children.
Joe Lowery, pastor of Sword of the Lord Ministries, wishes to thank Elizabethtown and Mayor Campbell for this first Kickball Tournament, which is slated to become an annual event. The need for Unity of Community is staring us in the face. Thanks to all who reached out on Saturday to unite the Bladen County community in a day of fellowship and fun.
