Thoughts While ShavingHopefully the oppressive heat has moved on, at least for a couple of days…Highs in the upper 80s today and Monday and lows tonight in the 60s.
The rain came and hopefully it was a crop-savor…We will see….Rainfall amounts vary greatly in the area…At the Hester household, (less than 3 miles southeast of Elizabethtown, as the crow flies) we had about 2 3/4 inches over the past 48 hours.  Could use more.
Southeastern Carolina Crossroads Open House is set for this afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.  Remarks by Rev. Bruce Cannon, David Chesnutt (Camp Director) and Rep. William Brisson.  All are welcome and the location is 1086 Susie Sandhill Road, Elizabethtown.  Some have worked hard to make the rehab center a reality.

Still can’t really picture, in my mind, how the new NC 87 and US 701 interchange will function…but have seen a sign in the past few days that the traffic pattern will change in a week or so…temporary of course….Hot weather does not appear to have altered their work schedule.
In the middle of summer, plans are underway for high school football…East Bladen is scheduled to participate in a Battle of the Carolinas Football Classic in mid August.  I am told, the event is set for Lumberton High and will involve teams from North and South Carolina.
64 years ago, 1950, Amos n Andy premiered on CBS-TV…..I loved those type shows, Red Foxx, Andy Griffith, Hee Haw, Lucy, and Flip Wilson…
Enjoy the weather for the next few hours…90s return Tuesday
