WHITEVILLE – Elaysia Dawson and Egypt Childers combined for 15 points to lead Whiteville Central to a 27-12 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Tar Heel Thursday.
The Lady Hornets built leads of 7-1, 15-6 and 19-12 before an 8-0 closing run widened the final margin.
Sherlyn Martinez sank a first period free throw, and Kiera Lewis fired in a 3-point bomb and another basket to keep the Lady Panthers within 15-6 at halftime. Teamates Violet Allen and Tiannah Willis buried 3-point shots in the third period.
Lewis led the scoring for Tar Heel with 5 points. The Lady Panthers will travel to Williams Township Thursday.
