The 2020 Census is upon us! The Bladen County Census Committee is keeping local residents informed on the upcoming United States 2020 Census. Greg Elkins with the County of Bladen’s Planning Department has placed promotional signs around the county for this year’s big count.
Jan Maynor with Lumber River Council of Governments released bilingual information and a color activity for children in reference to the upcoming Census.
The Census counts everyone in the country every 10 years to calculate the federal and state funding your community will receive. This funding goes towards things like the public schools, Medicare, public health, roads, and so much more! The Census information is also used to draw district lines and determine the number of seats North Carolina will have in the House of Representatives. It’s so important that every single person is counted ONCE, ONLY ONCE, AND IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
Beginning March 12, please check your mail for your invitation from the U.S. Census Bureau. You will be able to respond online, by phone or by mail.
