Charles Edward Daniels, better known as Charlie Daniels, from Wilmington, North Carolina born on October 28, 1936 passed away on July 6, 2020.

The Charlie Daniels Band announced today in Nashville, Tennessee, “Country music and southern rock legend Charlie Daniels has passed. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member died this morning at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee. Doctors determined the cause of death was a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83.”

He was a beloved American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his contributions to Southern rock, country, and bluegrass music. He was best known for his number-one country hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia“.

According to Wikipedia, Daniels was active as a singer and musician since the 1950s. He was inducted into the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame in 2002, the Grand Ole Opry in 2008, the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009, and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

The news of Daniels death comes just after “Geechi Geechi Ya Ya Blues (Quarantine Edition)” from Charlie’s Beau Weevils project video was announced on the band’s Facebook page.
