The Emereau: Bladen Board of Directors decided Wednesday to allow students in grades K-5 to return to classes beginning Oct. 19, the school announced in a news release.

The decision came after Gov. Roy Cooper announced last week that public school students in lower grades have the option of returning to classroom instruction. He left the decision to each school district. Emereau: Bladen is a charter school.

Emereau: Bladen students in grades K-5 will be allowed to return to classroom instruction four days each week with Wednesdays continuing as remote learning.

Grades 6-9 will remain on the current remote learning schedule until further guidance from the Governor’s office, the school said.

Remote learning will remain an option for parents of students in grades K-5 who choose not to send their child back to the classroom, the school said.

Cloth face coverings will continue to be required and everyone who enters the building will continue to be screened and monitored, according to the school.

Emereau: Bladen encourages everyone to remember the 3 W’s — Wash Hands, Wear a mask, Wait 6 feet apart.
