After a 5-month delay due to the coronavirus, Bladen County Recreation’s baseball and softball programs will begin play Friday at County Park with games scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
Provisions in place to help combat the coronavirus include: umpires will be positioned in the field to call balls and strikes and will have a mask to wear when in conversation with coaches and players, there will be no post-game handshakes and coaches will have sanitizer for players equipment.
Parents are asked to bring a chair to sit in and to practice social distancing as all bleachers have been removed from the fields.
The Dixie Boys 13-14 Baseball League and the 5-7 Coach-Pitch Softball League have games scheduled Friday, and the 8-10 Coach-Pitch Softball League will begin play Monday. The leagues will continue play through November 13.
