Richard Severine scored the deciding run in the top of the 7th inning as the Red rallied from a 3-1 deficit to edge the Black 4-3 in the opening game of Bladen County Recreation’s 13-14 boys baseball season. Severine, Hezekiah Blanks-Adams and Lee Barnes all reached base during the winning rally.

 

The Black took a 3-1 lead into the 6th inning, but Barnes and Conner Smith slammed doubles, and Aiden Russ reached base on an error. Barnes and Russ scored runs as the Red tied the game 3-3.

 

Matthew Kemp tripled and scored in the Red half of the 1st, but Darius Williamson and Parker Greene reached base for the Black in the bottom of the inning. Williamson scored to knot the score 1-1.

 

Greene and Tyreon Graham reached base and both scored as the Black built a 3-1 lead in the 5th inning. Graham also belted a 2nd inning single.

 

The Black team’s Britt Sasser and Barnes were hooked up in a 1-1 pitchers’ duel into the 5th inning. Sasser struck out 10 batters, and Barnes struck out 9.

 

The Red and Grey teams were scheduled to play Monday night, but that game was postponed due to wet grounds.
