Since August, students have been evaluating various colleges, reviewing the requirements needed to apply for college, and crafting their personal essays for the college application in preparation the NC Countdown to College Celebration. I am happy to share with you several exciting statistics:

Out of 42 seniors, 30 are planning on furthering their academic career at a college or university with the others planning to pursue the military or immediately enter the workforce.

90% of these students have completed their FASFA which will help provide them with funds for their academic pursuits

95% of these students completed their Residency Determination Status which helps each student receive in-state tuition if applying to a school in North Carolina

At this time, students have applied to over 26 different schools including:

  • NC State
  • Auburn
  • UNCW
  • Coastal Carolina
  • UNCP
  • Appalachian
  • ECU
  • Winston Salem State

And more still to come…

This is an amazing accomplishment for our first graduating class at Bladen Early College. We are so excited and thankful for their desire to further their academic education and creating their legacy.

Please be on the lookout for our “Signing Day” event in early spring as we publicly announce the schools are college bound students will select to attend.

We will continue working on applications and begin the scholarship application process helping students to continue to find ways to reduce the cost of college. To date, students who have invested in Bladen Early College have already saved between $30,000-$80,000 in tuition expenses and will continue reduce those costs even further.

Thank you for being a part of Nighthawk Nation and investing in our founding vision to “change lives and create opportunities.”

If you have any questions about the college admissions process for these students, please contact me at cscarroll@bladen.k12.nc.us or 910-876-6654.

On behalf of all of the staff at Bladen Early College, we are proud of our college-bound seniors and thankful for the support of the parents.

Go Nighthawks!
