The planning and preparing process for a new school in place of the current Tar Heel Middle School is underway. The Board of Education has been taking steps in preparation for the new-build school that will serve grades Pre-K through eighth.

Bidding for the construction of the septic field began on January 14th and ended on the 25th. “The new school septic field will have to be constructed before the new school starts so that the old school can use this system,” according to BladenOnline’s previous article. (Read More.)

This morning, BladenOnline received the following email from Bladen County Schools in regard to a special meeting:

“The Bladen County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 5:30 PM, for the purpose of discussing and taking action on items related to the Tar Heel School Construction Project.  The meeting will be open to the public.  The location of the meeting will be the Bladen County Schools District Office.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will also be broadcast virtually. A hyperlink will be activated prior to the meeting to allow the public to listen to the meeting virtually.
