“Keep them safe. Clean them out. Take them back.”

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. Thats dangerous and often tragic. That’s why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in – safely and anonymously – a record amount of prescription drugs. If you have unused medications in your medicine cabinet, there are ways you can properly dispose of them. The best way is to turn them in during a Prescription Drug Take Back event or you can turn them in at the prescription medicine drop box located at the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office (299 Smith Circle). This year the Bladen County Health Department in partnership with HRSA and Bladen Safe Kids will host a Drug Take Back rollout week event.

The locations and times are:
Monday, October 24, 2022- White Oak Fire Dept. – 10am-12pm
Tuesday, October 25, 2022- Ammon Fire Dept. – 10am-12pm
Wednesday, October 26, 2022- Hickory Grove Fire Dept.-10am-12pm
Thursday, October 27, 2022- Bladen East Medical Center-10am-12pm
Friday, October 28, 2022- Kelly Fire Dept.-10am-12pm
Saturday, October 29, 2022 –Anderson Drug Store-10am-2pm.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, from 2019-2021 there were a total of 51 lives lost to overdose in Bladen County. Let’s do all we can as a community to work on preventing overdose deaths, one way to start is by safely disposing our medicines.
