Bladen County SchoolsBladen County seniors in 2015 had an average combined SAT score of 1,206, according to The College Board’s annual report released earlier this month. That’s a 26 point drop, about 2.1 percent, from 2014 scores.

Statewide, the average combined SAT score for the 58,022 seniors who took the test in 2015 was 1,478, which was a five point decrease from the previous year, according to the report. Nationally, the average score was 1,490.

There were 142 Bladen County seniors who took the SAT in 2015, the report said. That figure represented 50 percent of the seniors at the two Bladen County high schools. There were 64 seniors at East Bladen High School and 78 at West Bladen High School who took the SAT in 2015.

Bladen County seniors had average scores of 408 in math, 414 in critical reading and 384 in writing in 2014, according to the report. Statewide, the average scores were 504 in math, 499 in critical reading and 476 in writing. Nationally, the average scores were 511 in math, 495 in critical reading and 484 in writing for the 1.66 million students who took the SAT.

At East Bladen in 2015, the average scores were 404 in math, 401 in critical reading and 377 in writing for a total of 1,192.

At West Bladen in 2015, the average scores were 412 in math, 416 in critical reading and 390 in writing for a total of 1,218.

At East Bladen in 2014, 66 students took the test. The average scores were 426 in math, 412 in critical reading and 376 in writing for a total of 1,204.

At West Bladen in 2014, 82 students took the test. The average scores were 428 in math, 428 in critical reading and 399 in writing for a total of 1,255.

In 2013, 121 Bladen County seniors took the SAT and had an average combined score of 1,265. Bladen students scored 440 in math, 425 in critical reading and 400 in writing, according to the report.

In 2012, 153 Bladen County seniors took the SAT and had an average combined score of 1,299. Bladen students scored 452 in math, 436 in critical reading and 411 in writing, according to the report.

In 2011, 146 Bladen County seniors took the SAT and had an average combined score of 1,264. Bladen students scored 454 in math, 411 in critical reading and 399 in writing, according to the report.
