Three Things to KnowGood morning! 3 things to know for Thursday, September 24

1. Neither rain nor dark of night will keep Bladen County high school football teams from playing Friday night. Or, at least, that’s the plan. Some schools in the region have moved games to tonight in hopes of avoiding forecasted rain. Not sure playing tonight or Friday will make any difference as far as the weather is concerned, if the forecast is correct. Friday, the schedule has East Bladen at Midway and West Bladen at Union.

2. On the subject of rain, it’s been 11 days since any measurable precipitation was recorded in Bladen Online’s rain gauge located in the Cape Owen Manor subdivision near Dublin. Doesn’t look like it will be a dozen days. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of rain today, 60 percent tonight, 70 percent Friday and 60 percent Friday night.

3. Hate your job? Want to get fired? This isn’t the way to do it. A chocolate factory worker in Vermont called in a bomb threat after stealing a co-worker’s cell phone and making the threat under a false name, police say. The man then tossed the phone in the toilet. He told police he hated his job and wanted to get fired. He probably wasn’t planning on being arrested, but that’s what happened. Doubt he has the job any longer, too.

And now you know.
