Nice to get away for a day or so…..and we have…..short stay in the mountains….For the most part, leaves have not turn to the bright, beautiful colors we love and expect……in the Asheville area….
Met some friends from West Jefferson and Banner Elk area who told me in their area the peak season had past….The leaves had been beautiful, and now the trees are bare….Oh well, like fishing, they bit yesterday and are expected to do so tomorrow….but today…not much action…..No complaints from this corner….
Had the opportunity to visit with a former neighbor on the trip up…..June Watkins…remember June and Arthur…..Arthur died several years ago…June is near her two daughters….in a really nice assisted living facility in Simpsonville, SC…near Greenville….She is busy….having fun, playing games and making new friends…and talking about her days in to Bladen County. She spent many years in the White Oak area, growing up with 10 siblings….Only two remain….June and a sister in Provo, Utah….You may have known June when she hemmed clothing at Leinwands…and was very active in the Optimist Club……Nice visit….She and a male friend were recently named the Outstanding Dancers in completion at the location…She has the pic to prove it….June just being June….
The next couple of weekends will be very, very busy…..There are about as many events planned for October 31st as I recall on any single day….Check our Events page….
