Maleke Tyeri King
An Elizabethtown man faces several charges, including attempted murder, following an incident that took place Saturday night in Tar Heel, Bladen County Sheriff James McVicker said.

Maleke Tyeri King, 21, of the 200 block of Sholar Road, has been charged with attempted murder, first degree burglary, assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and second degree kidnapping. He was not given a bond on the attempted murder charge and a $75,000 bond on the other charges. He remains in Bladen County Jail.

The incident began Saturday night when King went to the home of James Junious Lesane of Land J Lane in Tar Heel to return his child to the child’s mother, Brittany Lesane, McVicker said. While at the home, King and James Lesane got into an argument. King then entered the home and assaulted James Lesane with his fists and a handgun, striking him in the head several times, McVicker said.

According to James Lesane and witnesses, King pointed the gun at James Lesane and pulled the trigger several times, but the gun did not fire, McVicker said. King then left the residence.

King was arrested Tuesday without incident, McVicker said.

James Lesane was treated at the hospital and released.
