The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office helicopter assisted the Columbus County Emergency services during a search of Inman Lake near Whiteville for a Lumberton man who fell into the lake on Saturday.

“The helicopter flew over the lake for about an hour on Sunday but didn’t find anything,” said Bladen County Emergency Manager Bradley Kinlaw.

He described Inman Lake as measuring about 28 acres.

Bill Lowery, 62, fell into the lake on Saturday afternoon while fishing with two friends who did not see him fall but heard the splash, according to reports.

In addition to Bladen County’s helicopter, crews from Whiteville Rescue, Lake Waccamaw Rescue, Tabor City Fire Department and a cadaver dog from Brunswick County, all assisted with the search.
