Elizabethtown, NC – Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! That’s the new theme of the day in Bladen County Schools Elementary schools. On the last day of each month, the elementary schools celebrate student birthdays in the cafeteria. Students going through the food line receive a whole-grain Rice Krispy treat in celebration of that month’s student birthdays. Some schools have even posted during the month of their birthday photos of students along with their names on a bulletin board in the cafeteria. Cafeteria staff wears birthday aprons and hats, and even hang a Happy Birthday banner in the cafeteria that was given to the schools by the Kellogg’s Food Company in support of birthday celebrations. One group of cafeteria staff even wears blue wigs to add a little pizzazz to the celebration. Birthdays mark the passage of time and highlight that special someone during their month. The Bladen County Schools hope to add a little sparkle for students during their birthday.
