Garrett Melvin blasted in the game-winning goal in the 18th minute of the second half to give Clarkton School of Discovery a 2-1 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday night at County Park.
Melvin launched the deciding goal from 30 yards and it snapped a 1-1 tie.
The victory gives Clarkton the Bladen Five Soccer Championship. The Blue Devils raised their record to 7-1, while Elizabethtown finished the season with a 5-3 record.
Andrew Cahn connected for the first Clarkton goal in the second minute of the game as the Blue Devils went up 1-0.
Elizabethtown answered 3 minutes later with a header off of a corner kick that tied the score 1-1.
