Numerous roadways are closing in Bladen County due to flooding issues. Many neighborhoods roads and some homes are flooded as Hurricane Matthew inundates the area. The National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated at noon that Bladen County has received between 5 to 8 inches of rainfall with more expected.

Motorists are being asked to stay off the roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary.

The Glenwood subdivision in Elizabethtown was reporting flooding and the towns of Dublin, Bladenboro and Tar Heel were all reporting flooding of streets and some neighborhoods.

A resident at Regal Resort at White Lake reported rising water in his neighborhood and the Bay Tree Lakes subdivision was also experiencing some flooding as well.

There is a report that the Dublin Fire Department is flooded as well as other areas of the town.

Farm fields that once held such crops as corn, soy beans, and peanuts now resemble lakes and rivers.

Roadways are fast becoming rivers and streams and in some locations creeks were overwhelming the bridges and culverts.

NC 87 is closed between NC 20 and the town of Tar Heel due to flooding.

Other roads experiencing flooding are:

* NC 41 East at Colly Creek near Mote Road due to flooding;

*NC 242 near Gum Spring Road closed due to a wash out;

*Paul Brisson Road in Dublin is washed out due to flooding;

*Peanut Plant Road near Elizabethtown is closed between Blue Heron Road and Happy Valley Road due to flooding;

*Owen Hill Road is closed due to flooding/ dam rupture;

*Rosindale Road is closed due to a wash out and flooding between Coley Road and Tram Road.
